New research flags growing gender gap as AI reshapes career pathways across APAC
Singapore-based gender advocacy group NINEby9 warns that AI is reshaping opportunity unevenly, with women over-represented in roles most exposed to automation while men dominate emerging AI-driven and leadership positions. Limited access to training, internal mobility and inclusive AI strategies risks widening participation and progression gaps, especially for Gen Z women, unless organisations intentionally embed inclusion into their AI transformation plans.

AI boom risks widening gender gap at work, with Gen Z women most exposed: Apac report
A new Asia-Pacific study by NINEby9 warns that while AI is transforming the workplace, it could worsen gender inequality if companies fail to act early. Women hold less than a third of AI-related roles and are overrepresented in jobs most vulnerable to automation, with Gen Z women facing the greatest risk as entry-level pathways shrink. The report also finds that many women wait for clear AI policies before adopting new tools, potentially leaving them overlooked in fast-moving organisations that reward rapid experimentation.
